Protect Yourself and Your Loved Ones
COVID-19 infections are on the rise! The original virus has mutated several times, therefore the virus primarily seen today is not the original virus. Forty-four percent of the new cases of COVID-19 today are related to the latest variant (see the following update from CDC). In addition, there are other respiratory viruses, such as Flu and RSV, that are on the rise. We must take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves and others.
Refer to the appropriate health care agencies for the latest information in your area (see COVID-19 resources for links to the various agencies). Remember, scripture says “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13 KJV). What are you willing to do to show your love for your family, friends, and/or community?
One way we can express love for our family, friends, and our community is to stay informed and follow the recommended precautions to protect one another from COVID-19.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. (1 John 4:11 KJV)
What You Can Do!
Get Vaccinated and Boosted!
Did you know that the best means of protecting yourself, family and friends from infection by COVID-19 is to be fully vaccinated and boosted?
Getting the COVID-19 vaccine lessens the chance of spreading the virus to family members, friends, or other people with whom you have contact.
If you do become infected, the risk of developing severe or fatal symptoms are lessened.
The vaccines have a high rate of effectiveness (94-95 percent) against the original strand.
The vaccines also show high numbers of efficacy protecting people from serious illness from COVID-19 variants.
Follow Precautions
The availability of vaccines does not decrease the need for safety precautions. Even after being vaccinated, you should do the following:
Wear a face mask in public.
Practice social distancing.
Avoid prolonged contact with crowds, indoors or out.
Test when you think you may have been exposed.
Social Distance
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is currently offering free at-home test kits. Please visit https://special.usps.com/testkits for additional information.
